New cousin & Easter

We went to North Liberty on Thursday to visit our new cousin! Emily and Greg had Zachary exactly one month after Boaz. He was a whopping 9lbs 10 oz. We Glace's must grow big boys!! We had fun visiting our cousins Zach, Hannah, and Ellie. It'll be fun to watch the boys grow up together.

Arm in arm... good buddies already!
Grandma Glace is loving all these grandkids!

This was a big week for Boaz. He is starting to be so alert! As I type this, he's sitting in his little bouncy chair staring at the animals hanging above them. He's flapping his arms around in excitement. This week also brought his FIRST SMILES! He gives us a couple good ones a day. We think he already has a funny sense of humor and can't wait to see more frequent smiles and excitement.

Today was Easter. Boaz celebrated by heading to Orchard Hill for the first time since he was born. He had fun meeting all of mom & dad's church friends. After church we went out to Grandma & Grandpa Bartlett's house for lunch. Boaz was spoiled and got to cuddle with Uncle Justin, his great grandparents, and Dennis & Terry Heyenga.

As I sat in church today, I couldn't help but think about how Boaz has impacted my view of God and Easter. I will never fully understand the magnitude of God's love for me, but Boaz is helping me to think about Easter and the resurrection in a whole new way. Having my own son now, I can begin to imagine the pain that God felt when he sent his only son to die on the cross. And I also begin to understand that love that Jesus had for us also as he chose to accept the assignment. As Boaz's mom, I would die for him in a heartbeat. It's weird that you can love someone so much the instant that you meet them. Jesus loved each one of us enough to take on all our sins, suffer tremendously, and ultimately die. But the greatest part of the story is that he rose again!! I'm thankful for the power of the cross. I'm thankful for the opportunity to have eternal life because God and Jesus love me so much more than I can fathom.

For some reason, Easter is also the holiday where we try to dress up and look cute. Boaz rocked the sheep sweater, khakis, and cool shoes today. He's smirking in this picture because he knows he looks hot!

We weighed him again today and he has officially topped out the pizza scale. He weighs right at 11 pounds now! That's all the higher the scale goes, so we'll have to find an alternative from now on. He's a growing boy!

One Month!?!

Boaz has officially completed his first month of life!! We took this picture to document the occasion. (thanks for the idea, raegan!) The days have flown by. I told a friend the other day that all the days have blurred together... I'm not really sure what day is it anymore! Time is moving fast.

Boaz likes to lay in his boppy and stare at the sculptures on our living room wall. He also enjoys his swing (especially when we turn on the heartbeat sound!)

Boaz continues to be his daddy's boy. Here he is hanging out with dad early one morning while mom snuck in a quick shower. Mom can see all the facial expressions and mannerisms that Luke and Boaz share. Like father, like son!

We took this picture when he was exactly one month old. Doesn't he look so grown up? We have ventured out of the house a couple of times now. Mommy is getting to be a little less of a germ freak. (but still sanitizes everything after being out in public!) Our first big trip to church will be this Sunday for Easter.

Later this week we are heading to North Liberty to visit our new cousin, Zachary! Emily had her baby last week and he was 9lbs 8oz. Our family grows big boys!!

Boaz is still an amazing sleeper... often letting us have 6 hours or so each night. Then mommy feeds him and he goes back to sleep for a couple more! He still is spending most of his days sleeping also. When he's awake, he's pretty alert. Mom & Dad swear that he is going to smile at them very soon. We weighed him on a pizza scale the other day and he weighed in at 10lbs 1oz.

A Fluke? Or the beginning of a beautiful thing?

The proud daddy...
This is one of my favorite photos ever. Grandma Glace took this one of Luke when she walked in the room right after Boaz was born. Luke was calling his parents to tell them the good news.

Boaz and his new bear.
Photo taken when he was 2 days old.

Boaz loves to sleep with his hands up to his face.
Mommy sleeps with her hands up by her head too. Genetic?

Fluke?? Last night (3-1-08) BOAZ SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT! I couldn't believe it. He stirred at 3am like normal, but I didn't get him right away so I could see what would happen. He stayed asleep and didn't wake up to eat until 6:30am. Hooray! He's been a good sleeper so far... typically getting up only once during the night. I can't complain. But if this sleeping through the night thing continues, we will be very proud (and rested) parents!

Funny little smirk.
Boaz often gets little smirks and smiles on his face. Mom thinks he got Dad's sense of humor... uh oh! Whenever he smirks, mom wonders if he is thinking about Seinfeld quotes like Luke does every second of the day! :)

Big Beautiful Boaz Eyes!
Every time he stares at us with his big eyes, we are amazed that God has blessed us with this beautiful boy. We had our 2 week check-up this week and he is good and healthy! Jaundice is going away, and he's beginning to climb back up to his birthweight again. (it takes big babies a bit longer to regain the weight) We are thankful to all of you who have called, emailed, brought meals, and prayed for us!
