5/30- Today we embarked on an adventure... Luke's parents took us to Adventureland!! It could not have been a more beautiful day for it!! We arrived shortly before the gates opened. We made a quick stop at McDonalds to get a breakfast sandwich to fill our tummies before we got into the park. The boys had a picnic while I got them all sunscreened for the day.
The gates opened and we were off!! I missed a good photo op while I was sunscreening Myka... Grandpa Bartlett put Cainan up on his shoulders and took him over to see the dog and tiger at the entrance. Cainan had his eyes covered the entire time- scared of the characters. He'd talked the whole way down about giving the dog a hug! Maybe next year. The first ride of the day- the carousel! Boaz started the day off pretty timid. He didn't even want to ride the carousel. We made him do it with Grandma and he did just fine.
Boaz didn't want to ride in a plane either, so we let Cainan go ahead. He had no idea how to pull the lever to go up high. Every time he went around we all yelled and were trying to get him to pull the handle... he just smiled and laughed at us every time he passed. This kid is seriously seriously funny.
We got Boaz on the bumper cars okay! He rode with Grandma and tried to bonk everyone.
Cainan rode with dad and they went fast! Some boys ganged up on Grandpa and spent the whole time pinning him in a corner. They thought they were pretty hot stuff. I almost wanted to jump over the rail and smack them. Ron said they were lucky he didn't! :) Otherwise, the ride was enjoyable for all the others!!
As soon as Cainan got off the bumper cars he yelled, "Trucks, trucks!" He was excited to drive a big truck like Grandpa Glace's. Cainan hopped right in this bright red one.
Boaz needed assistance and took Grandma along for the ride. :) Cainan took his driving very seriously.
Boaz kept his truck on track.
Boaz skipped this ride, too. (Not sure what got into him this morning!?) Cainan hopped in the fire truck and was off to save the day!
The frog hopper was a favorite last year... and was a big hit again this time!
This was Cainan's first time on most all of the rides. He liked this one... it was so cute to hear him laugh and laugh as the ride bounced. Cainan requested the train next, so we headed to the train station.
Myka and Mom even got to ride!!
Boaz was our map guy all morning. He led us to all of our next rides. He was very intrigued by the guest services building where you can meet your kids if they get lost. Lots of questions about that place... :)
Cainan couldn't help but march down Main Street.
One of my favorite pictures of the day... Myka making faces at a laughing Cainan.
Up we go!!! Justin arrived while we were on this ride, so we got to wave at him and grandpa down below waiting for us.
Boaz leading the way again.... he actually got pretty good at finding where we were!
A quick stop at the teacups...
Boaz waved at Dad & Justin each time around.
Grandma & Grandpa took the boys on the Lady Luck... a big person ride!
Then we spent some time looking at the geese. They were Myka's favorite thing of the day.
After a lunch break, it was raging river time. Boaz decided to opt out of this one Here they come!!
I guess the water was absolutely freezing...
Cainan did NOT like this ride. He was sad after it was over because he was so cold and wet.
We headed over to the circus to give the boys some rest time for a bit. It was a good show. Cainan wasn't so sure about the volume level to begin with. He totally zoned for the whole show. I made sure someone was behind him so he didn't fall off the bleachers if he fell asleep!
Boaz didn't like that scary man in there.
But he did like the Chuckwagons! He wanted to be in one all by himself.
My big guy...
Being sneaky and standing up on the ride...
Myka was such a trooper all day. She never cried once... just zoned and watched the action. She took a few naps here and there, had some snacks, and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
Just love this sweet thing.
The Dragons were a hit this year.
These boys rode 3 times in a row!!"I go HIGH HIGH HIGH!!"
Driving the boats.
Then dad tried the pitching game. He won us a small bat. Way to go, Dad!
Back to the bumper cars! Dad was ready to take on the world...
Cainan hopped in with Justin. And Boaz rode with Grandpa. This was a much more fun ride than the first time around!
More time on the semis. Cainan was in the lead truck this time and I'm pretty sure he actually thought he was pulling the whole rig. He was so serious!! :)
Boaz picked out a black truck this time--- all by himself and warming up to all the rides this afternoon!
Another round on the fire truck....
while they waited for their turn on the motorcycles!!The thought of these boys on motorcycles someday freaks me out a bit, I must say!!
Back to the frog hopper.
Trying it with hands up this time!
Then we convinced Uncle Justin to ride with the boys.
Boaz really wanted to go back and do the airplanes, since he'd skipped them earlier in the day. (He said he just wasn't ready for it in the morning, but he was sure ready now!) So we rounded out the day on the planes.
And Cainan figured out how to make his go high!Honoring a special request for ice cream on the way out of the park. It was dinnertime, but why not?? It's vacation!! Boaz remembered how we ate ice cream here last year while it was raining and the dog pretended to eat Dad's ice cream. He thought we should eat there again and see if the dog would come back. He didn't, but they still liked the ice cream!
It was a perfect day for the park. Absolutely perfect. We closed the place down at 6pm. Lots of fun for all of us!
We capped off the day with some delicious BBQ at a restaurant nearby. Then headed back to the hotel to get some sleep. We got everyone ready for bed, then the boys got to head in to grandma & grandpa's room while I got Myka to sleep. They were supposed to be relaxing and listening to stories... you can see Cainan jumping on grandpa instead. Typical Cainan. :)
Boaz and Grandma enjoyed this book. I think Grandma enjoyed it just as much as Boaz. Some cute pictures and stories... :)
Once I had Myka to sleep, we tip-toed into the room and put the boys down. They fell asleep really fast tonight. They were so tired! And the one perk about sharing a hotel room with kids... mom & dad have to go to sleep early, too!! I was asleep by 9pm tonight. Ahhhhh...
