Boaz's 5th Birthday- Friend Party

2/9-  It's party day!!  Boaz woke up and was excited to see his birthday party cupcakes. I thought they turned out pretty cute and were actually really easy to make!  I'll definitely do fondant again.

Hooray!  It's party day!!
The invite....
The tables--- covered in foil with robot coloring pages for when friends arrive.
Robot beanbag game.
Pin the Gear on the Robot
Guests arrived at 11:00am and got to work creating their robot placemat.  All our little neighbor friends came, along with our friends Asher & Siri.

After everyone arrived, we started in on our Mini Murph pizza creations.
The kids had fun making their own lunch.
Asher & Siri
Avery... so sweet.
Boaz, Reagan, Andrew
Jonah's creation.
Cainan & Alexa
Ready for some games... Andrew, Cainan, Alexa, & Avery
Siri, Asher, Reagan, Jonah, & Boaz.
Boaz pins his gear on the robot.
Asher tries to find the wall...
Cainan's turn!
He required quite a bit of help.  :)

Next up... the beanbag toss.   Siri's up first.
Jonah
Reagan takes aim... she and Siri were identical today!
Boaz's turn!
Celebrating his success.
Andrew
Cainan... so serious!
Alexa's turn!
Asher patiently waited for his turn.

Time to eat!  While we played games, Luke baked the pizzas.  Problem was- we baked all of them at once. Pizzas touched the sides of the oven and pretty much started on fire.  Our house was completely full of smoke as we played games.  We opened every window and the kids froze.  It was quite humorous, but I was a bit stressed out.  The kids didn't seem to mind too much, other than a few coughs here and there.  :)
Foil cups for lemonade.
Boaz telling stories... like always.
Gift opening.  Boaz loved all of his presents, 'of course!'  Jonah gave him a dinosaur/car that transforms and a sketch pad.  So perfect.
So excited about his President book from Hannah!!  This book was so cute.  There's a page for each President and a brief description about their time in office.  Boaz especially likes the little known facts about each one... like George Washington's horses got their teeth brushed every day!
He told all the kids who was on the cover... George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Obama, etc.  :)
Spiderman puzzle!!
And a Mario Baseball game from Asher!  "This is just what I've always wanted for my whole life!!"
He got a couple new games- Zingo & Sequence.  We've had so much fun playing those at naptime.
It was so cute to watch the kids crowd around for the opening... they just couldn't resist.
A spongebob lunchbox filled with all kinds of goodies!
Our sweet friend, Reagan.
The whole gang...  Avery, Reagan, Siri, Aiden, Asher.  Cainan, Boaz, Jonah, Andrew, Alexa.  We love our friends!!
Then it was time for a Mr. Roboto dance!!!  What's a robot party without some robot dancing?

Time for the birthday song and treats... for some reason, Mr. Outgoing got really shy during this part.

Mmmm... those robots were quite tasty!
Hannah was invited to the party and it was soooooo wonderful to have her here!  From now on, I will always have helpers at a birthday party!  It was so nice to have her help with some of the prep before the party.  And she saw what needed to be done during- and just did it!  She even cleaned up the kitchen while we were saying goodbye to guests!  So thoughtful.  We love our Hannah... and not just because she helps clean.  She is just such a great friend and role model for our kiddos.  Such a sweet heart--- so blessed by her and her whole family!
Some of the party decorations drawn by Boaz.

The first-ever friends party was a hit.  Boaz had a blast celebrating with some of his buddies.  We were all exhausted afterward, but it was so worth it.  A special thanks to my parents who kept the girls for the morning so we could focus on the party!  Can't believe this little man is almost 5!!

pre-party week

2/3- Let the party prep begin!!  This afternoon we started work on the favors for Boaz's party.  We made some robots out of juice boxes and various candies.

The boys did such a nice job assembling them.  Then later in the week, someone pulled the nice box they were in off the washer in the laundry room.  My new box broke and so did most all of the robots.  I spent quite a bit of time untying bags to fix these little guys.
Tonight when the boys were getting ready for bed, they ended up running around the living room in their undies.  They just looked so darn cute that I grabbed my camera.  Just love the following photoshoot capturing these fun boys' personalities...

I have a joke that I do with the boys... I'll tell them something like "You know what we're having for dinner tonight?"   They'll always answer 'What?'  And then I say 'Buns!' and pinch their little cute buns.  Silly, I know... but they crack up every time.  This picture reminded me of our silly game.
 Look at these muscle men!!
Posing pretty until Cainan decided to smack Boaz in the tummy... always the joker.
My boys... love them to pieces.

3/5- New books means some quiet time on the couch browsing!!
Today Boaz asked me to tie a blanket into a bag and cut out a beard... he wanted to play Santa Claus.

 "Ho, ho, ho!!"
At least twice a day, Myka gets shoes and a hat on.  Always the boys' shoes.  Most of the time their hats, also.  She always wants to go somewhere.  If Dad leaves for work, she puts on her things.  When I tell her that she isn't going anywhere, sometimes she'll pout.  Other times she'll just shrug her shoulders and throw her stuff off in the middle of the kitchen.  At least she tried.
Boaz making a pulley... always making something.
Grandma Glace gave us some early Valentine's today.  These suckers were so funny... lips for Myka and mustaches for the boys.

And let the cake-making begin!!!  The boys mixed up the batter for the birthday party cupcakes!!
Boaz is starting to sound out some words to go along with the pictures he draws.  So fun to watch.
** Note to self... a funny picture/story to go with this that wasn't published **

Myka was a bit too quiet for a bit too long this afternoon.  That'll teach me to leave the baby powder open in her room.

Today the boys made a train... this was the ticket booth.  I had to go and buy a ticket from this friendly guy.
A mess of my own this afternoon... making my first-ever batch of fondant for the cupcakes!  It was actually quite easy... I used a recipe that called for marshmallow fluff and powdered sugar.
