6/6- We're all set for the first night of tball!! Cainan's got his baseball hat on and it ready to hit a home run!!
When I was looking up info to get the kids signed up for tball this summer, I started thinking about all the little kids that live right around us and wondered why in the world we wouldn't do our own tball league right here. We'd eliminate loading up our whole families and rushing out the door in the evenings, we'd get to spend time with our friends, we'd enable siblings to play on the same team that might not otherwise get to, and we'd get dads out in the yard playing with their kids! Sounds like a winning plan to me!
I emailed all the moms in the houses around us and the plan was in action... I'd help organize the crew and Luke would act as the coach. Luke and the boys had fun shopping for a tee, balls, bases, etc. Here come the Boxwood Bears!!
We met near the cul-de-sac on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for 8 sessions. Bill shows Cainan some batting technique.

Luke organized stations tonight and had some of the dads help run them. Adam helped the kids work on their aim... they threw tballs into the buckets.
While kids were at stations, they pulled one kid at a time to take batting practice. Boaz's turn at the plate.

Sweet Sarah took Charly and Myka to the hill and let them play while I helped Cainan/Boaz/Kezia back at the practice. We don't get to see Charly and Zoey very often, so these two had a blast playing together.
At the end of practice, Luke had them run bases a bunch... mostly to wear them out. I loved watching all these kids run their little hearts out. Here comes Zoey around the bases... Adam cheers her on.

After they all hit and ran, Luke just started saying "Go!" to each kid and had them run around as fast as they could.

This is what Kezia did for the night. A friend loaned this to me for a bit and we loved having it tonight. She had fun tagging along and being in the action tonight.
I've said this many times, but I sure do love our neighborhood and our neighbors. It's so fun to get everyone out spending time together... and I really loved watching the dads team up to encourage these kids. Nothing better than building community in your community!! :) Go, Bears!!!
