Myka 3 months old

9/7- Myka is three months old today! She's starting to develop a bit of personality and is smiling quite a bit.

Here comes Cainan!!   (of course!)

She is still sleeping in her pack-n-play in our room.  I definitely could move her to her crib, but haven't done so yet. (I'm not ready for it!)  She's had a cold recently and that makes her a bit restless at night, but she's typically still sleeping pretty well.  She normally gets up to eat at 5am and then goes back to sleep for awhile.    (I'm usually up with Cainan at night more than with her!  He's getting all his molars now, so that has made him pretty restless.)

9/6- Tonight Boaz helped Dad trim the trees out back.  Mostly Boaz parades the big limbs all over the yard and made it more difficult for Dad to clean up.  But he sure had fun doing it!

After our outdoor fun, it was haircut night.  All three boys got a good trim tonight.  It's funny to look down at the piles of hair and see how much lighter Cainan's is than Boaz's.   They both did okay with the haircuts tonight.  Boaz didn't really cry this time.  We had to take several breaks for him to calm down, but no screaming!   I did have to headlock Cainan tonight- he'll get better at this. 

9/7- Today the boys got to watch a show after naps while enjoying their afternoon snack.  They looked so big lounging here. 

I could watch this little girl sleep for hours.  So in love...

We picked Lester up again tonight to come over for dinner.  He just got a new game on his phone (Wheel of Fortune) and the boys were super impressed.  They wouldn't leave him alone.  I think Lester got a little tired of Boaz's questions.   :)   We took him back to his hotel after dinner and said our goodbyes.  He'll take the long 19 hour busride home tomorrow. 

I walked through the living room this evening and cracked up at what I saw on the cupboard beside the chair.  Luke created a chart to score all the candidates in the political debate tonight.  Only my husband would do that.  Political season is upon us... Luke is pumped.  I don't get much into politics.  I care about them, but not near to this extent! 

The final filled-out chart the next morning...  gotta love my husband.   :)

9/5- Cainan played HARD this morning... must have fallen asleep at naps while reading a book.  :)

It was a bit cooler today, so I put Myka in this long sleeve/long pants outfit for the first time.  It's a three month outfit, but it was much too short for her.  Guess we'll only wear that one once.  I get so bummed when she doesn't get to wear some of the cute clothes she's been given!

We played over at the neighbors' bouncy house this afternoon for awhile. 

Then Grandpa came to our place for the big dinner... he was the first to arrive and got Myka duty while I got a couple more things ready. 

Aunt Terry & Uncle Dennis came for the evening, too! 

And the honored guest for the evening... cousin Lester.  Cousin Lester lives in Oklahoma. We rarely see him- only when he takes a 'vacation' up to Cedar Falls.  Lester is a unique guy.  He has a few quirks- including a disease that makes him super tall.  He is currently 7' 1''.   Imagine how comfortable his Greyhound bus ride from Oklahoma was?!

Luke & Justin had a blind taste-test.  They wanted me to pour Mountain Dew from a silver top can & gold top can into glasses and then they had to determine which was which. 

Justin swore this was the gold-top can.  He was confident.  I went into the kitchen and cracked up with Terry because Justin was dead wrong.  Justin, I'm sorry- but I secretly love it when you're wrong!!  :) 

Just relaxing in the living room...  I just can't get over how long Lester's legs are compared to everyone else!

Boaz telling Lester about the game...  Boaz & Lester have a really funny chemistry.  Lester is a pretty smart guy and lives independently (he has help that comes in daily to get him where he needs to be), but they seem to be similar in people skills/maturity level... almost like peers.   Lester is pretty entertained by Boaz, and Boaz is pretty entertained by Lester.   It's pretty comedic.

It was a fun evening gathering a few relatives in our home.

9/3- Today we had a pretty relaxing day.  We did a lot of playing and running around this morning.  Boaz & Cainan can entertain themselves for a LONG time just running around the house and jumping on things.

We started Boaz's new workbook today and he LOVED it!  The first pages just help him learn to use a pencil and follow different types of lines... building up to writing letters.  He had so much fun 'staying on the sidewalk.'   I learned that it's hard to teach a kid how to hold a pencil correctly!!

My Aunt Roni is an incredible quilter.  It took me much too long to take pictures of Myka with this quilt she made for her.   Here's our photoshoot...

My beautiful girl on her beautiful quilt.  Aunt Roni names each quilt she makes.  This one is called "On Angels' Wings."  If you look close, the quilting stitch looks like angel wings.  It is so wonderful. The quilts she makes will be such great keepsakes for our kids.

Also if you look close, you'll notice parts of Cainan in most every picture.  He loves his sister so much... we can't leave Myka anywhere for more than a minute before Cainan is right beside her.   I'm going to just leave the tons of pictures I took of her on the quilt on this blog, because it's just funny for me to see Cainan intruding.   Enjoy....

Cainan makes Myka smile a lot... their relationship is a beautiful thing, too! 

It's also a dangerous thing sometimes!   :)
