a bug and some worms

3/14-  Cainan tried his hand at magic this morning...

and Boaz couldn't stop him.  He was sick.  :(   This was our first bout with kids having the stomach flu at our house.  (we've been so so lucky!)  Fortunately, Boaz is old enough to understand when to reach for a bowl and that he needed to rest on the couch for the day.  We spent a lot of time reading, watching shows, coloring, etc.  Luke took care of the other two kids and I was on sick duty.  Luckily it was a Sunday and he was home to help!!  The sickness was short-lived and Boaz didn't even cry once!!  What a trooper.
3/12-  I noticed this morning that there were a TON of worms out on the ground after a good rain last night.  Grandma Bartlett stopped by after a work meeting this morning and we took her out on a worm hunt!  The boys were so pumped... but then Cainan wasn't so sure about touching one!

Grandma convinced him that it was okay to put it in the cup... then he got really excited.
Look at my worm!!
Boaz was an expert hunter.  He screeched with excitement everytime he found a huge one.  (we had to convince the boys that we'd only pick up the extra big ones- otherwise we'd be picking up hundreds and hundreds!)
I'm not a huge fan of worms, so was thankful that Grandma was there to do the dirty work.  (I would have done it if she wasn't there though... I need to start doing yucky things like this with the boys!)
A neighbor of ours tipped us off and told us to go check out the drainage ditch.  It was a goldmine!!  Thousands and thousands of huge worms.  (he'd already been through and picked out a bunch of big ones for his fishing trip that afternoon!)

When Myka woke up from her nap, she joined us outside in the garage and watched the boys ride bikes and play with their worms.

Boaz & Cainan were so excited to show dad their cups of worms!!
Later in the day, Dad helped them dump the worms in the grass and they watched them slither away into the ground.  It was a heavenly day for these boys....
